“It’s a stark reminder of the divided country that we are in,” Rep. Anthony D’Esposito told Greg Thompson of News 12 Long Island, referring to the recent attempt on Donald Trump’s life at his campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. He continued, “I think moving forward if we’re going to continue to have these rallies, we need to be extra careful and make sure that everyone’s protected.
D’Esposito also released a statement on social media following an interview on MSNBC to discuss the assassination attempt:
“As a law enforcement professional and member of the House Homeland Security Committee, I know how important it is that we quickly begin investigations into the attempt on President Trump’s life.
What happened on Saturday can never, ever be allowed to happen again.”
