Rep. Anthony D’Esposito releases a statement urging Vice President Kamala Harris to publicly denounce antisemitic attacks directed towards Governor Josh Shapiro within the Democratic Party.
“For the duration of Kamala Harris’s search for a vice presidential nominee, one overarching theme was made clear: Democrats have a severe antisemitism problem within the ranks of their party. While Democratic contenders for Harris’s VP slot jockeyed to demonstrate their leftist bonafides, the loud and increasingly powerful progressive wing of the party took serious issue with the Jewish faith of one candidate — Governor Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania.
I have major disagreements on policy with Governor Shapiro across a wide array of issues, and I am confident Republicans’ commitment to safe streets and affordable communities is better for Americans than the liberal priorities advocated for by Shapiro and his party. However, I cannot remain silent after witnessing the vitriolic language and thinly veiled antisemitic attacks used against Shapiro by members of the American left in an attempt to discredit Shapiro simply for his faith.
To that end, I am calling on Kamala Harris to immediately condemn the antisemitic attacks made against Governor Josh Shapiro by her fellow leftists during the Democratic Party VP selection process.
The steady ascendance of antisemitic actors in the Democratic Party like Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, and the entire “Squad” is a danger to all Americans. Kamala Harris as well as her local allies on Long Island like Laura Gillen must set the record straight on whether their party will tolerate such bigotry moving forward – so far it has been radio silence.
Americans will hold antisemites accountable at the ballot box soon.”
