This legislation is designed to ensure there is one consistent standard for aircraft maintenance, which does not exist at the nearly 1,000 overseas repair facilities.
Currently, the lax safety standards at international repair shops incentivize the outsourcing of airline maintenance jobs to overseas locations — including the 93 facilities located in China.
Improving aircraft safety standards has national security benefits and will bring more good union jobs back to the USA.
