The Hempstead Town Councilman and Congressional Candidate pledged to support law enforcement investigation into the hateful mailers found in areas of Rockville Centre and Oceanside.

Early this morning, residents in portions of both Oceanside and Rockville Centre awoke to find hate-filled, anti-Semitic flyers littering their neighborhoods.  In response to the jarring display of prejudice, Hempstead Town Councilman and Congressional Candidate Anthony D’Esposito reaffirmed his commitment to safeguarding the local Jewish community and pledged his full support for the ongoing police investigation into the incident.

The hateful flyers contained false information as part of anti-Jewish conspiracy theories typically peddled by anti-Semites.  The pieces were distributed in certain sections of Rockville Centre and Oceanside – two neighborhoods with longstanding Jewish communities.

“There is no place for hatred here in our community, and I will continue working tirelessly to fight prejudice in all its forms wherever it rears its ugly head,” said D’Esposito.  “I am absolutely disgusted by the flyers found in Oceanside and Rockville Centre and will assist our local law enforcement agencies in any way possible as they seek to bring the perpetrators to justice.”

D’Esposito, a lifelong first responder, spent years combating violent crime as a member of the NYPD – where he retired with pride as a Detective.  D’Esposito’s tough-on-crime agenda stems from his experience in New York City law enforcement and includes a zero-tolerance policy for hate crimes in any form.

“I am committed to fighting against anti-Semitism and hatred in all its forms and will never turn a blind eye to such horrendous displays of bigotry,” said D’Esposito.  “I will always advocate for the best interests of the Jewish community and all other peoples who simply seek to practice their religions and cultures in peace here along Long Island’s South Shore.”

D’Esposito urges anybody with information on the hateful flyers to contact the Rockville Centre Police Department at (516) 766-1500 or the Nassau County Police Department at (516) 573-8800.
